Why Virtual Counseling Exists
Not because they weren’t ready. Because the system asked them to choose between treatment and the rest of their lives.
In-person intensive outpatient programs run three to four afternoons a week, three hours at a time. Add commute, add traffic, add picking up the kids. For most working adults, that math has never added up — even when the willingness was there.
A therapist you saw once a month. A prescriber you saw twice a year. Two clinicians who never spoke to each other. You, in the middle, translating. That's the experience most people call "mental health treatment" — and it's why progress so often stalls.
Driving to a treatment center in your hometown. The parking lot. The waiting room. For many people in professional, leadership, or small-town environments, being seen meant not going at all.
A residential program means leaving your job, your family, your life for thirty to ninety days. For people who weren't quite in crisis, but were unmistakably struggling, there was no in-between option that fit. Until now.
Virtual Counseling exists because the people we treat every day told us, over fifteen years, exactly what was keeping them out. We built the program around those answers.
Healing Starts Here
For too long, intensive outpatient treatment has asked the people who need it most to step out of the lives they’re trying to rebuild. Long commutes after work or school. Childcare you don’t have. Privacy you can’t get. Three hours a day, three to four days a week — for many people, the logistics alone were enough to delay care or stop it altogether.
Guardian Recovery Virtual Counseling changes the math. Our intensive outpatient program is delivered entirely online — every group, every individual session, every check-in with a psychiatrist or therapist — without giving up the clinical depth that has helped more than twenty thousand people find their way forward.
Three things every client gets — no matter which program they enter.
Your therapist, psychiatrist, group facilitator, and case manager meet daily to discuss your progress. Care that actually communicates.
The same intensive program structure as in-person care — small groups, individual therapy, medication management, alumni community — built for video from the ground up.
Mornings, afternoons, evenings. Privacy when you need it. A program that meets work, school, and family where they actually are.
Choose the path that fits what you’re navigating right now.
An intensive outpatient program for alcohol and drug dependency — delivered online with the same clinical structure as our in-person facilities. Groups several days a week, individual therapy, and ongoing recovery support.
A unique intensive outpatient program for anxiety, depression, trauma, and co-occurring conditions. Combines group therapy, individual sessions, and medication management — coordinated daily by one team.
Six things that come with every Guardian Recovery Virtual Counseling treatment plan.
Three to four group sessions per week, eight to ten people each, led by a licensed clinician. The same group, every week, for the duration of your program. Process work, skills, and real connection — not a webinar.
The same licensed therapist for the duration of your program. Evidence-based modalities — CBT, DBT, EMDR, motivational interviewing, trauma-focused care — matched to what you're navigating.
Visits with a board-certified psychiatric provider when clinically appropriate — including medication-assisted treatment for substance use. Adjustments happen in real time, not in the gap between widely-spaced appointments.
A case manager who handles the logistics around treatment — FMLA paperwork, court documentation, employer letters, school accommodations, step-down planning, and referrals when you complete the program.
Optional family therapy sessions and a separate weekly family education group. Recovery is more durable when the people closest to you understand what you're doing — and what their part in it can look like.
When you complete the program, you become part of a national alumni network — weekly virtual alumni meetings, mentorship pairings, regional events, and lifetime access to support. No re-enrollment, no extra cost.
Choose the path that fits what you’re navigating right now.
No waitlist. No paperwork before you’re ready. Just a conversation.
Call us or fill out a short form. A compassionate admissions specialist will pick up — no phone trees, no scripts.
A licensed clinician will spend 30–45 minutes understanding what you’re navigating and recommend the right level of care for you.
Most clients can start within 24–72 hours of their first call. We verify benefits, send your secure login, and walk you through what to expect.
Guardian Recovery Virtual Counseling is part of Guardian Recovery — a multi-state behavioral health organization that has been treating substance use and mental health since 2009.
Our virtual program isn’t a tech startup that hired clinicians. It’s a clinical organization that built a virtual front door. Same therapists, same psychiatric providers, same coordinated team model that meets every weekday to discuss every client’s care. The only thing that changed is where the program lives.
A few of the things people ask before their first call.
Yes. Research from the last five years has consistently shown that for intensive outpatient levels of care, virtual treatment produces outcomes comparable to in-person programs. Our program uses the same clinical curriculum, the same therapists, and the same team-based model as our brick-and-mortar facilities — just delivered through secure video.
Most clients attend group therapy three to four days a week for about three hours per session, plus one individual therapy session and — when clinically appropriate — a medication management visit with a psychiatric provider. We offer multiple time blocks so you can choose mornings, afternoons, or evenings.
We’re in-network with most major commercial insurance plans, including Aetna, Cigna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Anthem, Optum, and UnitedHealthcare. The fastest way to know for sure is to verify your coverage online — a benefits specialist will follow up within one business hour.
A device with a camera (phone, tablet, or computer), a stable internet connection, and a private space for sessions. We’ll walk you through the secure platform on your first day — no technical skills required.
